We love street photography and so does Frank Herfort, a photographer journalist that captured surreal moments in Russia. He called his photo series “Time In Between – Fairy Tale Of Russia” and documented the beautiful contradictions of daily life in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other areas in Russia.
Each image is excellently captured to give a sense of mystery, melancholy, and the absurd contrast. Herfort’s photos seem to document a fairy-tale land forgotten by time. Visit frankherfort (h/t: sobadsogood)
“In Western Europe everything is so neatly defined, so specific,” Herfert explains. “A waiting room is a waiting room, an office is an office.”
Rest assured this is not just random photography as Herfert a lot of times asks person of his interest to pose for him. When the composition is arranged he achieves a more dreamlike image.
“In Russia, in contrast, rooms are open to interpretation, many-layered and not so prettified. And I also noticed that there seem to be many more people just sitting around in them. None of them seems at first sight to know what they are doing there. I tried to integrate people like that into my pictures.”
