The Era Of Romanov Dynasty In Photography

The first known ancestor of the Romanov family was Andrei Ivanovich, who in the 14th century was the captain at the court of the Moscow princes. His descendant of Roman Jurjevic, boyar at the court of Prince Basil III. has married in 1547 his daughter Anastasia Emperor Ivana IV. Grozny. Romanov’s son, Nikita Romanov, was an educator of his underage nephew Fyodor Ivanovich, who died in 1598, as the last descendant of Rurik dynasty. After the Emperor’s death, fighting broke out for the throne between prominent boyars Boris Godunov and Romanov. He won Godunov who was his opponent. Romanov Dynasty (rus. Romanov) was the imperial dynasty that ruled Russia from 1613 to the destruction of the monarchy in 1917 at the time of the February Revolution.


After the extinction of the Rurik dynasty, the government has taken the Russian boyar Boris Godunov, after whose death the emperor elected Michael Fedorovich Romanov, the founder of a new imperial dynasty.
