Today thanks to levely photo-blogger Marina Lystseva aka Fotografersha, on her another photo session visited a beautiful high-tech “Sokol” factory and Rzhevsky aircraft repair plant in north-western Russia, to be more precise Nizhny Novgorod. At the moment there is a big order for the modernization of fifty MiG-31 fighters right now from the Russian gouverment. featuring the repair process and stuff located at both places. via(source)
So thanks to Marina that visited the whole place you can see some interesting pictures
So if you ever wondered where are these big fear-striking planes repaired and modernised look below
This plane is a supersonic interceptor aircraft, trully high-tech, developed to replace the MiG-25 “Foxbat”
The MiG-31 was designed by the amazing Mikoyan design bureau based on the also famous MiG-25.
The MiG-25, despite Western panic about its tremendous performance, made substantial design sacrifices in capability for the sake of achieving high speed, altitude, and rate of climb. So it’s always you give some, you take some.
Further development of the MiG-25’s replacement began with the Ye-155MP (Russian: Е-155МП) prototype which first flew way back in 1975.
Today Russian gouverment hopes to field a replacement for the MiG-31 by 2020, which means all aircraft retired by 2028.
There are new plans however, the development of a new aircraft, designated MiG-41, had started by April 2013. and is in process.
So what do you think, would you like to work on such a project?
