One can find Beauty in Russia’s Metro Stations

You can find beauty everywhere you look in Russia, so does it surprise you Moscows Metro is one of those beauties Russians are proud of? We usually depict metro and underground stations as something dark, grey, ugly and plain right scary. However the Moscow Metro architecture is a must see and thanks to Canadian architect & photographer  by the name David Burdeny, you get to see the photos of a first authorized photographer that took these shoots. Now a bit of history, the Moscow Metro was opened back in 1935. and it was a huge Soviet propaganda project had a task to prove and predict a bright future for the empire ( “sveltloe budushchee” bright future) with it’s shiny, stylish and imperial architecture. Luxurious lamps, colorful murals of Soviet leaders and standard propaganda elements are something you can’t miss there. This photo series is called “Russia: A Bright Future,” and it was displayed at the Jennifer Kostuik gallery in Vancouver until November 8th.
