USSR – To have a nice car that everybody can afford was the main goal of USSR ideology. Just like German WW2 era “VolksWagen” (peoples car) the Eastern Block also had a great number of peoples cars. The automotive industry in Soviet Union had a early start back in the 1929 and it maintained it all the way until 1991. Most of the large manufacturing plants were born with the establishment and reorganization of the AMO Factory around 1920’s, based in Moscow.
