Alexey Kondakov is a Ukrainian artist living in Kiev. In his series “History of Art in Contemporary Life”, he gathers scenes and figures of classic paintings and introduces them into the life of today. The famous painting “Song of Angels” by Bouguereau takes place in an empty subway car while the couple of men from Holbein’s famous painting “The Ambassadors” is transported to the table of a bar. This series creates a new context, interesting and playful, of works of art that are usually only found in museums and art history books.
