Recipe how to make Sataraš
Simmer chopped peppers and onions with some oil (sliced into smaller lobules) until browned and tender. Meanwhile peel the tomatoes (we want get rid of the peel), chop it into smaller pieces and add it to the pepper and onion. Stir and season as desired, and simmer until all the liquid has evaporated. Addition of water is not necessary.
Sataraš can be served in several ways:
With rice – then it will be necessary to add a little water when cooking and perhaps some tomatoes from the tube or homemade jars so the rice has what to cook in. However, you can also cook the rice separately and subsequently mix with Sataraš.
With pasta – cooked Sataraš pour over the cooked pasta.
With meat – Fry small pieces of meat, pour a little wine, water and tomatoes, season with salt and fry until tender. Then add the vegetables and continue to prepare sataraš as was previously described in the recipe. As a side dish you can also serve cooked rice or mashed potatoes.
Whichever way you choose – you will not go wrong. For sataraš is an ideal dish for the summer heat.
