Seven Beautiful Wonders Of Slovenia

Slovenia, a beautiful Slavic land, is hiding for you beneath the Julian Alp mountains where it borders with Austria, Croatia, Hungary and Italy. We decided to show you a bit about this small but beautiful land of the Southern Slavs by the name Slovenians. They have great locations to visit and structures  to explore from it’s long history and beautiful landscape. What you will browse here is a list of Seven wonders of Slovenia, and all these cool locations are worth your visit if you ever visited Slovenia. Slovenia is a Slavic country, but it also hides ancient Celtic and Illyrian history and many locations here are older than all of us together.

Postojna caves

Postojna Cave consists of a complex of tunnels, galleries and halls. 20,570 m long system of several caves near Postojna , the largest such system in Slovenia. This system, in addition to the Postojna caves belong to Otok Cave , Magdalena Cave , Black Cave , Postojna Cave , and several smaller ones. It was created by erosion of the river Pivka , whose water mass during the two million years have molded its interior. The constant temperature inside the cave is a few years ago amounted to 8 ° C, until recently moving between 8 and 10 degrees. The maximum depth of the cave is 115 m.

Kranjska Gora

Kranjska Gora is a small town at the foot of the Julian Alps , from Italy and Austria, located only 6 km. The place is very famous ski resort. The second largest after the Pohorje . Kranjska Gora is located at 800 meters above sea level. In the tourist industry (winter) offers: day and night skiing , tobogganing, natural and artificial ice rink, ski and snowboard, ski equipment rental, etc. ski resort Kranjska Gora, Podkoren . The resort is on 785 to 1623 m above sea level.

Bled Lake

Lake Bled ( Slovenian : Lake ) is a glacial lake in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia . The lake is located in the eponymous municipality of Bled . It is only 55 km from Ljubljana . The lake is 2,120 m long, 1,380 m wide with a maximum depth of 30.6 m. The lake is surrounded by mountains and forests. On the northern shore of the lake there is a medieval castle. In the middle of the lake of Bled Island , the only natural island in Slovenia. The island has several buildings, most notably the Church of the Assumption of Mary, built in the 15th century.

Reserve Zelenci

Zelenci the ground source of the Sava Dolinka , in the municipality of Kranjska Gora . Here, the water wells up from the 2 meter deep lake green color . Because of this intense green color is the source also got its name.Zelenci the nature reserve and home to many endangered animal and plant species .

Mangart

Mangart also Mangrt is 2679 m above sea level high top in the Julian Alps and is the fourth highest peak in Slovenia . Mangart is also the name of the mountain (the highest peak Veliki Mangart, 2679 m above sea level) between the valley of the stream Koritnice and Mangartsko valley . Mountains has built more than Triassic and Jurassic limestones . On the southern slope of the mountain originates Koritnica, on the north side of the valley Mangartski are Lower and Upper Lake Mangartsko

Bled Gorge is a canyon 1.6 km long through which flows the river Radovna (near the village of Upper Highlands ). The walls of the trough are high from 50-100m, height of the slope is 250 m. In the gorge arejumping , pools , rapids, cutting rock and other corrosive forms of water activity. At the end of Vintgar decreasing over the threshold of the 13-meter waterfall Vintgar noise .

Predjama Castle

The castle is located in the far northwestern corner of the Postojna Basin . At the turn of Predjama where disappearing stream Lokva is vertical, 123 m high rock wall opens the complicated karst underground . Rovi place on several floors, linking the species potholes. The whole underground system is about 6.5 km long and partly arranged for tourist visits. Before high natural rock arch in the wall stands a castle.
